About

My name is Lena Vinz

I have been teaching guitar for over 30+ years. I specialize in acoustic and electric guitar, and instruct all skill levels.

In Ukraine, I entered the Kamensky Music College at age 19, and earned my Bachelor’s in Classical Guitar Performance in 1993. I pursued a Master’s in Guitar Education in 1997, and graduated in 2002 from the Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University.

Classes that pedagogically prepared me for guitar instruction include: methods of teaching, children’s psychology, individual repertoire, music theory, and aural theory. These courses helped me to develop my teaching philosophy: each child is an individual, and has their own unique way of learning. My goal is to discover their innate talent, and help them develop their sense of rhythm, intonation, and musicianship. I instruct using the Suzuki method and ensure that my students flourish and succeed in their personal musical journey.

Many of my students in Ukraine participated in national guitar tournaments, which took place in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Dneprodzerzhinsk, and Kyiv. In the United States, my students participated in the Wisconsin Federation and Solo Ensemble festivals.

Over the last 20 years, I have branched out to other musical genres, including rock, pop, and metal. Artists that have influenced me musically include, David Gimoure, Mark Knopfler, Andy Mckee, Antoine Dufour, Spencer Elliot, and Andres Segovia.

I am currently offering guitar lessons in the surrounding Milwaukee area and I am accepting new students.
